Counselors and Partners
Do you know of any low- to moderate-income students who are planning to attend either Alamance Community College, Durham Technical Community College, or Wake Technical Community College and would like to transfer to Carolina? If so, please read on. C-STEP targets high-achieving students of low to moderate income-students whose household adjusted gross incomes fall at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, as indexed by family size, or roughly $62,000 for a family of four for the academic year 2006-2007. These students transfer to Carolina as juniors after earning an appropriate associate degree from one of our three partner community colleges. As someone who is committed to helping qualified students find their way to college, you'll be pleased to know that C-STEP offers eligible students a number of exemplary benefits to smooth the transition from community college to Carolina. Students accepted into the program receive invitations to special events and advising, both at their home community college and at Carolina, while they are pursuing their associate degrees, and once they have enrolled at Carolina and are pursuing their bachelor degrees. Advisors will also work with students to develop individualized financial aid plans to minimize debt. Recruitment for C-STEP for Fall 2008 is underway, and we are currently searching for potential candidates. If you know of any students who might meet the income requirements and would like to be considered for the program, please ask them to complete and submit our online Interest Form. We are also happy to meet with you or a group of students from your high school. If you are interested in arranging a visit, please contact a member of the C-STEP staff.
