Success Stories

Natalya "The best part about C-STEP is the peer mentor program. You have a group of wonderful people to assist you any way they can, whether you need help getting acquainted with campus, figuring out a schedule for classes, or just want to talk to someone."
Natalya Grauer, C-STEP Class of 2009

Originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan, Natalya came to the United States six years ago. Needing English language instruction, she enrolled at Durham Tech, and then transferred to Carolina through the C-STEP program. She is majoring in business administration.

Brian "I knew that Carolina had a lot of opportunities for students like me. C-STEP helped me get here. It inspired me to seek a degree at Carolina, and helped me adjust to the new campus environment."

Brian Woodward, C-STEP Class of 2009

Brian is from Snow Camp, N.C. He spent three years studying at Alamance Community College, and has now transferred to Carolina as a participant of the C-STEP program. Through the Carolina Covenant, a needbased aid program that helps low-income students pay for college, Brian will graduate from Carolina debt-free. He is majoring in history.

Brittanie "C-STEP helps with just about everything—from your studies to your social life. C-STEP offered everything that I needed and I feel that this was my ticket to where I am now. Let it be your ticket, too!"
