Originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan, Natalya came to the United States six years ago. Needing English language instruction, she enrolled at Durham Tech, and then transferred to Carolina through the C-STEP program. She is majoring in business administration. "I knew that Carolina had a lot of opportunities for students like me. C-STEP helped me get here. It inspired me to seek a degree at Carolina, and helped me adjust to the new campus environment." Brian Woodward, C-STEP Class of 2009 Brian is from Snow Camp, N.C. He spent three years studying at Alamance Community College, and has now transferred to Carolina as a participant of the C-STEP program. Through the Carolina Covenant, a needbased aid program that helps low-income students pay for college, Brian will graduate from Carolina debt-free. He is majoring in history.
